Making Board Games

Do you ever walk to your game closet or shelf and say you are tired of the games you see? Are you creative and do you like planning? This can be a good team-building activity for a family. You can use stuff you have at home and you can share the work of making a game with your sibling. If you are not good at drawing or writing directions, then you can work with a sibling who is good at that.

Supplies from home

  • Cardboard (food boxes or shipping boxes)
  • Makers
  • Pencil or pen
  • Colored paper or white computer or card stock
  • dice
  • brad
  • paper clips
  • parts from other games
  • glue
  • other crafting supplies laying around

If you have a printer at home, you can make a dice. If you want dice that are sturdier, then print on card stock. I am giving you links to 3 different dice that you put together.

Number dice

How to make a spinner.

Here is a link to a blank spinner template you can print off. If you can not print then you can always draw your own.

Here is what you have to do to make your spinner:

  • Once you have printed or drawn your spinner circle you will need to make a spinner arrow.
  • You can make your arrow in 2 different ways.
    • One way is using cardboard.
    • Another way is to use a paperclip.
  • Use a brad in the middle of your circle to attach your arrow or paperclip.
