Indiana State Parks

Who doesn’t like to camp and hike? Maybe you are someone who likes to just sit at your campsite and people-watch. Or you like to take a nice hike. Or even go for a swim. Maybe you just like to have a picnic and sit out in nature. If you like any of these things, the state parks are for you. There is a lot to do at a state park. You just have to find the right Indiana state park for you. I love going to a state park to hike or even swim because it is more exciting than just walking at home where the roads are flat and the scenery never changes. Even my dog loves going for a car ride to a nearby state park.

These are my favorite Indiana state parks:

Indiana State Park Pass

If you are someone who loves to camp or hike a lot in the summer, then you may want a park pass. You can use the park pass to enter all state parks in Indiana free of charge.  However, you still have to pay campsite fees and pool entrance fees. Having the state park pass saves you a lot of money in the long run. Passes are good for the calendar year. You can get your park pass from your local state park. Or you can get it from the Indiana State Park Store website.  If you live outside Indiana but do a lot of camping in Indiana you can still get a state park pass.

2024 Annual State Park Entrance Pass – $50.00 (Under 65)

2024 Golden Hoosier Passport (entrance pass)– $25.00 (65 and over)

2024 Annual Non-Resident State Park Entrance Pass– $70.00

When hiking, be sure to pack:

  • Water
  • First aid kit
  • Food
  • The right hiking shoes

Trail mix is my favorite hiking snack. Here’s a recipe:

  • Peanuts (Roasted and salted)
  • Pecans
  • Almonds
  • Cashews
  • Dried Cranberries
  • Raisins
  • Dried Pineapple
  • Chocolate Chips
  • M&M’s

The amounts are up to you. Mix all ingredients in a large bowl. Then put about ¼ cup of the mix into snack-size bags for easy on-the-go snacks.
